The Castelli Mortirolo 4 jacket, an intro by Castelli Café This has always been our top selling jacket and for good reason. When the weather between October and March is dry and not too frosty and lets face it that’s when its best to ride. This Jacket is perfect.
The Windstopper X-Fast leading edges are super warm and stop the cold winter wind but if the day heats up chest vents help cool you down. The trailing edge (out of the wind) is in super stretchy Warmer fabric for great breathability and shape. The new wrist closure is perfect with or without gloves and for nighthawks there is even a fully reflex version (although all version have reflective details).
Of course the Mortirolo isn’t perfect for every situation, it doesn’t offer the weather protection of an Alpha Jacket or the all round warmth of the Espresso or Senza but for most cyclists for most of the winter….its the perfect jacket.
Castelli Cycling talks about the Mortirolo, this is a perennial favorite among cyclists because it’s exceptionally good in a wide variety of conditions. High intensity in cold weather? Yep, this jacket keeps you warm but also vents a lot of moisture out the back thanks to our thermal Warmer fabric. Lower intensity in mild conditions? Yep, just open up the zippered front vents and use a lighter base layer. The only real trade-off here is that we didn’t build in real water repellency other than the Gore Windstopper® on the front, but this is a great piece for those dry fall and winter days.
